Pearl Harbour

Just before 08.00 hours on the morning of December 7, 1941, Japanese forces launched a surprise, pre-emptive military strike against the United States¿ naval base at Pearl Harbor. The main focus of the Japanese attack was the eight huge battleships, six of which, at the time of the raid, were moored along what was known as Battleship Row. Four battleships were sunk; 15 other vessels were sunk or damaged. Almost 350 aircraft were also destroyed or damaged. This special publication looks back at the devastating attack that propelled America into World War Two, ensuring that the events that fateful day were some of the most pivotal in world history.
